GTA VI in September 2026: A Month of Announcements
Updated September 28, 2026
Since the Extended Look on August 27, Rockstar has been announcing something on most Thursdays. September was packed, so here is a date-ordered recap.
September 15: artists start teasing
Musicians began posting fragments of GTA VI artwork on social media, hinting that they were part of the game's music.
September 17: the album and the shareholder meeting
Rockstar officially announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album (details). The same week, Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting produced several headlines: chairman Strauss Zelnick described GTA VI as a single-player game, said the company does not expect recurring spending from players, and confirmed GTA Online would keep being supported.
September 18: PC comments
Zelnick answered another PC question with no date but a strong hint about PC's growing importance (PC guide). Twitch's CEO also suggested multiplayer could arrive next year, although Rockstar has not confirmed it.
September 24: the collector's box
Rockstar put a €399.99 collector's box on its store, filled with merchandise but not including the game. Fans reacted with a mix of surprise and criticism.
Rumours that were denied
Xbox rejected a claim about GTA VI pre-orders on its consoles, calling it false. A former developer's opinion about a Switch 2 version was just that, an opinion.
What is next
- The 50-day mark on September 30.
- Take-Two's next earnings report in early November.
- Pre-load on November 12 and launch on November 19.
