GTA VI Pre-Order, Pre-Load and Physical Copy Guide

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI have been open since June 25, 2026. Between editions, bonuses, pre-loading and a physical copy that has no disc, the details are easy to mix up, so here is what Rockstar has said officially.
The pre-order bonus
According to Rockstar, every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, a set of retro-themed items. Fan and press guides list a two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier, a garage and vintage outfits, but check Rockstar's page for the final contents. Digital pre-orders have also been reported to include one free month of GTA+, the subscription attached to the existing GTA Online.
Pre-load: November 12
Players who pre-order digitally can start downloading on November 12, a week before the game unlocks on November 19. Rockstar says this is so players can be ready at launch. The download is expected to be large, so it is worth clearing storage in advance, although the exact file size has not been announced.
The physical copy has no disc
The boxed version of GTA VI contains a download code rather than a disc. Rockstar says physical copies go on sale from November 12 to support pre-loading, which means you can buy a box on that day and start the download, but the game itself will not unlock until November 19.
The oddity, noted by several outlets, is that the only disc carrying the GTA VI name in November will be the soundtrack album on CD and vinyl (see our soundtrack guide).
Which edition?
The Standard Edition is reported at $79.99 in the US and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, with the extra money adding exclusive vehicles, weapons, clothing and mod shops. Our editions and prices guide covers the euro prices and the upgrade pack.
Still unclear
- Whether the game unlocks at midnight in each time zone or at one global time.
- The size of the day-one download.
- How physical codes will work for resale or lending, since a code is not a disc.
